OLD KICKS. NEW LIFE.

ORIGIN STORY: It Started With This Lost Sole

In Oct 2018  I had an idea that started with this single Bred Jordan 1. I found this lonely gem online with a dirt cheap asking price, just sitting there. It was the right shoe only, and in fairly good condition, but apparently nobody wanted OG Jordans missing a matching shoe. I knew this classic could still have a purpose. And I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. So I snatched it up. And chopped it up.

I sat on it for a while and began researching leatherwork and gathering the supplies and tools I would need to start creating. Finally, I dove in. My first piece was born. A super dope handcrafted wallet cut directly from one of the most iconic sneakers in history. It’s been my personal piece til this day. And it’s even better now than the day I made it. It’s perfectly formed to my cards and worn in from my pockets. The leather has aged beautifully from daily use. Though it wasn’t my best work, considering it was my first piece, I’m still amazed at how durable it is. It will last for years.

I loved the concept and creative process and knew I wanted to make more pieces, with all kinds of different shoes. I also knew I wanted the focus of my customs to remain repurposing sneakers that most people considered beat or trashed, or single shoes without a match. These are the best candidates for my projects. Because those shoes had character, and a story. I knew these kicks still had life in them. And I needed to help those lost soles write their next chapter. This was the birth of Eightyfivecustoms.

I ramped things up and made my first pieces available for purchase in May 2020. It’s been quite a journey so far. I truly appreciate every one of my customers and supporters for understanding the concept what what I’m trying to create. Thank those of you who have spent your hard earned money on my art. I appreciate you. My loyal customers know that I will go above and beyond for them. I care about them as much as I care about the piece I created for them. I love to keep in touch with the owners of my creations, and they know I’m only a message away if they need anything. If you ever cop anything, please hit me up so I know who you are!! Much love!!
